Arizona Federal Theatre Information

Originally known as Dodge Theatre and later renamed Comerica Theatre, Arizona Federal Theatre was built as part of the redevelopment of Downtown Phoenix. Designed to provide a solution to a need in the area for a space for shows and events that were too intimate for a sports stadium, but larger and more elaborate than the smaller local venues could cater for, the theatre quickly became a firm favorite among performers and patrons alike! It opened its doors in April 2002, starting strong with sold-out shows from Harry Connick Jr. and Jerry Seinfeld.

That December, the Radio City Rockettes made their Arizona debut at the theatre with 38 performances that brought over 100,000 people through the doors! Over the years, it has continued to grow in popularity, and has built a reputation for being a second-to-none hub for entertainment of all kinds – in addition to hosting world-class tours, the venue also hosts corporate events, graduations, and sporting events, including championship MMA and boxing matches.

The venue has been the focal point of several notable performances and events of the years, with stars choosing it as a location time and again. In 2003, it was the setting for Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie starring the Blue Collar Comedy troupe (aka comedians Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, Ron White, and Larry the Cable Guy), and stand-up comic George Lopez recorded his HBO Special, America’s Mexican, at the venue. Rock supergroup Chickenfoot (Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani, and Chad Smith) recorded their live album Get Your Buzz On at Arizona Federal Theatre, and the theatre also played host to the 2010 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony!
