The Unity Tour begins in April at Grinders KC in Kansas City and heads across the country making stops in Chicago, Boston, Raleigh, Tampa, Houston and Costa Mesa among others before ending up in Marymoor Park in Redmond, Washington in late August. Then the 311 boys jump on a jet and head across the pond to rock 8 more European countries as well. For the tour announcement, the band took over NPR's Tiny Desk for 311 day, opening with “Beautiful Disaster”, the third single from Transistor, then got everything, “All Mixed Up” before finishing it off with the ultimate banger, “Amber”. So, you're set for 311, but think you can handle starting the night off with Neon Trees’ chart-topper, “Everybody Talks,” and then, before you know it, AWOLNATION come on stage and hit you with, “Sail,”!!! Now that's an EPIC lineup! With Pop-rocking, Indie sound, mixed with a hint of New wave and some heavy Synth sound of Neon Trees. Before moving onto the Electronic, indie, and Pop-rock, Alt-rock sound of AWOLNATION, and finally the all out 311 mega mixes of Rock, Rap, Reggae and Funk into their own special, hybrid sound.
With 13 studio albums, 2 live albums, 4 compilation albums, 4 extended plays, and 4 DVDs, 311 have come a very long way since... 1990! Yes, this is one of the very, very few bands still rocking their original lineup! Formed in Omaha, Nebraska, 311 are lead singer Nick Hexum, Aaron "P-Nut" Wills on bass, lead guitarist Jim Watson, and drummer Chad Sexton. In 1995, their self-titled album debuted at number 12 on the Billboard 200, and has since gone triple platinum, it contained the still awesome song, "All Mixed Up." Then, barely a year later, they topped the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks with the song "Down"
Last year saw the release of the single "Candy Pop", followed shortly by the album of the same name, by AWOLNATION. The band, led by Aaron Bruno, are most well known for their epic debut album, Megalithic Symphony, and its insanely popular single, "Sail". With 10 million sales in America alone, "Sail," is only the 57th song to be certified diamond. Especially for a song that never went to number 1, only ever reaching number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 4 on the Billboard Rock Songs chart, and number 5 on the Billboard Alternative Songs list.
