Bullet for My Valentine exploded onto the scene in 2005 with their highly influential debut album, “The Poison," featuring massive hit singles such as “4 Words (To Choke Upon)," “Tears Don’t Fall," “Suffocating Under Words of Sorrow (What Can I Do)," and “All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me)." The album debuted on the Billboard 200 chart and reached the second position on the Heatseekers Chart, selling over 1.6 million copies, hitting gold certification in the United States and the band’s native United Kingdom, and platinum in Germany.
In that same year, Trivium dropped their second studio album, the now-canonical "Ascendancy," sporting the tracks “Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr," “A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation," “Dying in Your Arms," and “Like Light to the Flies." The album also debuted on the Billboard 200 and reached fourth position on the Heatseekers Chart, achieving gold certification. "Ascendancy" also received numerous accolades, such as the Album of the Year Award by Kerrang! magazine, and has been ranked number 11 on Metal Hammer’s 100 Greatest Metal Albums of the 21st Century.
