In support of her new album "Underdressed at the Symphony", FAYE WEBSTER just announced new tour dates in the United States. Kicking off the tour with a couple of shows in Florida and Alabama last March, she's heading back to the U.S. by June following a series of shows in Europe. Taking her album to the live stage, fans have always praised her graceful and intimate concerts where her voice and lyrics shine.
Her new album showcases a deep dive into experimentation and adventure as she sings through lyrics that reveal parts of her life. Navigating conflicts in intimacy, love, passion, and desire, it's an album that documents moments where life feels like it's starting to blur—making us feel something so real.
"I think I hit a point in songwriting during this record where I was just like, man, I said a lot, Webster explained in the album's bio. "he record feels like a mouthful to me, but I don’t always have to be deep. I can just sit down and sing about this ring made of crystal Lego that I really want."
Introducing new sounds into her sonic palate, she's excited to share her attraction for symphonies—something she found herself going to a lot. "When it came to naming the record, it just felt like the most meaning thing I could relate to," she told Rolling Stone Australia. She further explains that her albums always found a place for symphonies, and "Underdressed at the Symphony" has "less keys, less synths, and more grand piano."
Looking back at her journey in music, she self-released her first album "Run and Tell" in 2013 at the age of 16. Studying songwriting in university, she made the decision to drop out and take things her own way—making a deal with her parents that if she couldn't be a successful musician, she'd go back to college. In 2017, she signed to Awful Records, and released her self-titled LP "Faye Webster". The album marked the beginning of her reign in the scene. Her songs started becoming featured in articles by the likes of Rolling Stone and Pitchfork, and former President Barack Obama even chose "Better Distractions" as one of his favorite songs of the year in 2020.
Now, she continues to impress and challenge the industry with her honest and graceful songs. Becoming adventurous and experimenting with new sounds, her heart for writing pages about her life remains true. As she takes "Underdressed at the Symphony" to the stage at Arizona Federal Theatre on Sunday 22nd September 2024, make sure to mark your spots at the show by booking your tickets now!
